TN Private Medical College MBBS Fees 2026-27

The same seat costs three different amounts depending on the quota you enter through. Here is the government, management and NRI quota fee for every TN self-financing medical college.

Last updated 2026-08-26 · figures are from the published counselling documents named on this page.

The same MBBS seat, in the same college, costs three completely different amounts depending on which quota you enter through. Below is the annual tuition fee for Tamil Nadu's self-financing medical colleges and private medical universities for 2026-27, set out quota by quota.

What the three columns mean

Government quota seats in a self-financing college are allotted through the state counselling on merit at a state-fixed fee — the cheapest route into a private college by a wide margin. Management quota seats are filled by the college from the state merit list at the higher fee fixed by the Fee Committee. NRI quota seats carry the highest fee and require documented NRI sponsorship.

Tuition only. These are annual tuition figures. Hostel, mess, university registration, caution deposit, books, instruments and the development or special fees each college publishes separately are on top — and on a five-and-a-half-year course they add up to a serious number. Ask for the full pre-counselling fee disclosure before you commit.

The arithmetic families get wrong

A government-quota seat at roughly ₹4.5 lakh a year and a management-quota seat at ₹15 lakh a year in the same college are separated by about ₹52 lakh across the course. That gap is almost always larger than the difference in quality between the government-quota seat you were offered at a college you liked less and the management seat at the one you liked more. Rank the money honestly before you rank the campus.

Frequently asked questions

Is the government quota fee the same in every self-financing college?

Close, but not identical. Most colleges sit at 4.35 to 4.50 lakh a year, with the newer private universities at 5.40 lakh. Christian Medical College, Vellore is the outlier at a fraction of the rest.

Can the fee change after I join?

Fees are fixed by the Fee Fixation Committee and are revised periodically, so the figure for a later academic year can differ. Fees are subject to change as per Government and University notification.

Is the NRI quota fee payable every year?

The NRI fee shown is the annual tuition. Some colleges collect the NRI rate for the first year and a lower rate for subsequent years — confirm the year-by-year schedule in writing with the college before paying.

Do these fees apply to deemed universities as well?

No. Deemed universities are outside the state fee structure and are counselled centrally by MCC. Their fees are published separately and are generally much higher.
